Boat trailer accessories

With a boat trailer winch, you can safely and steadily lift your boat on and off the trailer. This is a useful piece of equipment to gently pull or lower the heavy boat into the water. In order to make this process run smoothly, you can also use bilge and keel rolls. These boat trailer rolls keep the bottom and sides of your boat undamaged.
Difference between bilge and keel rolls
The sides of the boat are referred to as the bilge. A bilge roll ensures your boat remains stable on the trailer and does not suffer any damage when lowered into the water. With bilge roll sets, you can make your boat trailer suitable for rubber boats. The keel is the centre of the boat's bottom, the part that is lowest in the water. This ‘fin’ keeps the boat from capsizing while in use. A keel roll protects this fin when the boat is on the boat trailer. Keel and bilge rolls for boat trailers are available in various sizes and material types.
Boat trailer axles
Protempo carries both braked and unbraked axles for boat trailers. The boat trailer axles by KNOTT feature waterproof bearings, so the axles can handle being underwater. The boat trailer axles feature special mounting options to facilitate trailer movement and weight distribution. The hub caps indicate whether or not the trailer axle is ‘waterproof’ . Unfortunately, the Protempo assortment does not include tandem-axle boat trailers. However, feel free to contact our colleagues to discuss the options for a custom boat trailer.
Boat trailer lighting
Proper lighting is mandatory on public roads, even for boat trailers. Boat trailer lighting should be waterproof, as the boat trailer will sometimes be underwater.
